Preparatory Department
The Preparatory Department, which is an important constituent part of the PUEC, is designed to prepare applicants for admission examinations in NSTU and other universities and colleges.
Depending on duration and content of curricula the department offers the following forms of training:
- Full-time training (for learners having school-leaving certificates)
- Part-time training on a fee-paying basis (for eleventh-form pupils and people having school-leaving certificates)
- Full- part-time training (for tenth- eleventh-form pupils of Novosibirsk secondary schools having agreements with NSTU)
- "Russian School" which offers a course lasting three years for foreign citizens who want to learn Russian or a course lasting one year for foreign learners who want to enter NSTU.
Full-Time Training
This form of training provides the most profound education. According to the curricula training is carried out in subjects that are required at entrance examinations. The academic year lasts from 1 November to 23 March and is divided into two terms. Final examinations are administered from 1 to 15 June. Candidates having school-leaving certificates are selected on a competitive basis. Testing in mathematics, physics and Russian is held up to 20 October. Applications are handed in beginning with 1 September. Admission based on the results of entrance examinations to NSTU (for those who fail in competitive examinations) is also possible. Non-resident learners are accommodated in the hall of residence. Learners who are successful in studies receive scholarships. Enrollment to NSTU based on the results of final testing is competitive.
Part-Time Training
This form is provided for learners having school-leaving certificates and certificates of technical secondary schools as well as for eleventh-form pupils of secondary schools. Training is offered on a tuition fee-paying basis. The course lasts from 1 October to 30 April. Learners have 15 hours of classes a week and study five days a week from 16.00 to 19.00. Enrollment to NSTU based on the results of final testing is competitive.
Full-Part-Time Training
This form provides training of tenth- and eleventh-form pupils of secondary schools based on the curricula and schedule of the training process in compliance with the agreement concluded with these schools: NSTU offers methodological support to teachers of these schools in the form of regular seminars and consultancy, revision of school curricula, administering tests (one test is conducted at school and the second one at NSTU), tutorials and supervising school pupils' course papers. The course lasts from 1 October to 30 April. Enrollment to NSTU based on the results of final testing is competitive.
