Scientific and methodological activities

The methodological seminars are held regularly with the aim to accumulate and systematize the methodological experience. Different problems are discussed here: various aspects of education, everyday life and health of young people with limited abilities. Reports of specialists in hearing and speech recovery, pedagogical, medical, scientific and other spheres are delivered.

Scientific and methodological work "Organization And Management Of Rehabilitation And Training Process In Conditions Of State Educational Institutions" that unites teachers and employees of the Institute in their general goal. Gennady S. Ptushkin - the director - is a scientific leader of the work.

The Institute organizes annual regional methodological conferences. Professionals from similar regional educational establishments take part in it.

The teachers of the Institute, who develop curriculum and programs, training methods, create laboratories and workshops for students with limited abilities, are innovators at this sphere. The methodological manuals are prepared regarding deaf and hard of hearing training experience.

Educational-methodological department (EMD) plays an important role in facilitation of the training process, designing of training approaches, preparation of training plans, working programs and also in setting up control over the documents' accordance to the State standard and normative basis. Significant sphere of the EMD activity is search of new specialities for the ISR NSTU's students, conducting of marketing researches in professions for the handicapped, working out and licensing of professions and specialities. Together with deans, heads of the chairs the EMD participates in the rehabilitation-educational process organization, works out the normative and legal basis, timetables, confirms teachers' load, conducts seminars, promotes to organization and conducting of scientific and practical seminars and conferences in questions of the handicapped people professional training.

A Laboratory of Information Educational Technologies is called to develop and adopt the newest computing education methods into rehabilitative and educational process.

Methods of remote training are related to them, including through INTERNET; electronic textbooks, training and consulting systems, testing and diagnostic programs. One of the significant elaborations of the laboratory is program-apparatus complex of mute speech (the authors are: the director of the Institute-Gennady S. Ptushkin and the dean of the ETD - Michail G. Grif), intended for computer mute-translation from Russian natural language into loan mute speech with showing on video.

This finds it's application in training process, students' original work, mute translations, teachers' work and practice of everybody who wants to acquire mute language. At present the mute speech complex has no analogies in the world. The rate of the computer mute-translation approaches average rate of mute translation. A trial model of mute-speech complex has been implemented into training process in ISR NSTU and was demonstrated at some exhibitions-fairs in Novosibirsk and Moscow, was awarded with two gold medals of international Siberian fair-exhibition competition "Education in Siberia in the XXI century" (April 1998).
