The Singes song-writers is one of the informal centres of NSTU cultural life. Every week lovers of bard poetry - students, alumni and teachers - gather there. Old-timers try to keep the best traditions of bard poetry. Meetings and parties are run in a free and easy atmosphere with tea, candles and of course the guitar. You can find congenial souls and perhaps even friends there.

At first bard poetry was perceived as songs that hikers sing during walking-tours sitting near the fire or in tents. But it has stepped over the limits of this genre and is not singing verses to the accompaniment of the guitar any longer. At present bard poetry is a fusion of many genres and musical styles - jazz, country, romance, etc. It has combined the best features of music and poetry and presents a unique cultural phenomenon.

The Singes song-writers of NSTU has a rich history. It began its work on 4 April 1974 and this day is considered the day of its birth. Several generations of students contributed to its development and starting its traditions. Lots of festivals and concerts have been arranged and a great number of friends of the Club have appeared. In 1999, about 200 people came to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Club.

Every week about 20 visitors of various ages and occupations come to the Club. But these differences do not hamper socializing and understanding as it is love for bard poetry that brings people in the Club together. Even if you can't play the guitar and sing, you will be a welcome guest in the Club. And if you wish, you can learn to sing and play the guitar there.

The members of the Club regularly take part in festivals, go for outings and arrange informal meetings with famous bards. Every year the members of the Club arrange the contest "The Soloist with the Guitar". Everyone can take part in this event and try him/herself as an author or performer.

One of the main goals of the Club is to create the most favourable conditions for the comprehensive development of individuals. And the Club's work is mainly aimed at encouraging their creativity and poetic potential.
