Meeting of Old Friends

The Academic Chorus of NETI / NSTU was created in 1964. On 19 April, they gave the first concert. This date is considered the day of birth of the Chorus. For 37 years now the Chorus has been leading a very active and intensive creative work. The singers rehearse, give concerts and try to maintain their high level of performing art despite a very specific feature of this student choir- every five years the staff of the Chorus changes. At the moment Olga Zakhvatkina is the leder of the Academic Chorus of NETI / NSTU. Former members of the Chorus often get together on various occasions. Sometimes they give concerts. One of such occasions happened in 1994 when the Academic Chorus celebrated its 30th anniversary. In the year 2000, when NETI / NSTU celebrated its jubilee 60 former and present members of the Chorus got together and gave a concert where they sang seven compositions from the repertoire of the Chorus that were first performed 20 years ago.

Yuri A. Braginsky had been the permanent leader of the Chorus for the first 25 years. He brought up hundreds and even thousands of young people to love music and art. He trained and perfected their voices to create a fine and superb musical collective named the Academic Chorus.

Yuri Braginsky's name is part of NETI / NSTU history. Numerous victories, awards and successes of the Chorus were achieved due to his commitment and enthusiasm. Besides, it is thanks to his professionalism and talent that the Chorus is famous for its well-trained voices, refined academic manner of performing, time-tested repertoire, exquisite finishing of compositions, sustained rests and a good feel for the conductor's hands. Yuri Braginsky taught his followers to understand the beauty of life and music, cultivated the sense of taste and managed to excite the best sentiments and emotions in them. And listeners can hear and feel all this at their concerts.

Very soon, another concert will be opened with the words, "The Novosibirsk Komsomol Prize winner, the laureate of the All-Union Festival of Amateur Art, the prize winner of the contest "Uventus-75", the prize winner of the international contest "The Golden Belt" in Prague, the People's collective -the Academic Chorus of NETI / NSTU is on the stage."
